Notice of Appointment
Walla Walla County Conservation District

Walla Walla County Conservation District is announcing an opening for an appointed supervisor’s position.  Presently serving in this position is Ed Chvatal who has served in this capacity and is seeking another three year term.
Conservation Districts are governed by a volunteer, five member board, three of whom are elected by the citizens of the district and two are appointed by the State of Washington Conservation Commission.  District supervisors have six primary functions: work as part of a team with other supervisors, employees, and agencies; help develop local district leadership; maintain local control over local issues; obtain technical and financial assistance for the Stakeholders and coordinate with other cooperating agencies; assign priorities to resource problems, programs and tasks; and solicit input on resource problems and solutions from all Stakeholders and keep them informed.
The eligibility requirement of those interested is to be an eligible elector that is defined as, a registered voter in Walla Walla County, and resides within the District Boundary and is a landowner or an operator of a farm or occupies land.   Supervisors serve for a three year term.
The Conservation District Supervisor serves without compensation.  There is a monthly board meeting to attend with the possibilities of additional conservation related meetings throughout the year.  The Board of Supervisors provides guidance, oversee and direct district activities and projects.
If you are interested in becoming a board member, the Recommendation for Appointment form is available at the Conservation District Office, 325 N. 13th Ave., Walla Walla or contact Marguerite Daltoso, Admin. Assistant, 522-6340, ext. 101.

Our Vision

We believe that complex environmental problems can be solved through voluntary cooperation rather than by regulatory mandates. We will do this by creating and then implementing proactive programs that respect both the need of landowners and the natural resources of the County.
