Wildfire Preparedness

Walla Walla County Conservation District (WWCCD) is here to help you take meaningful steps toward wildfire preparedness.

Our WWCCD team can connect you with educational resources and on-site risk assessments to better understand how to protect your home and property.

Wildfire preparedness includes fuel reduction activities such as:

  • Limbing up trees

  • Clearing brush

  • Chipping or removing debris

  • Creating defensible space around homes and outbuildings

These actions reduce the amount of flammable material near structures, making a critical difference if a fire occurs.

While many people associate wildfires with forested or mountainous areas, wildfires can happen anywhere—including fast-moving field fires that can threaten homes and farmland. That’s why wildfire preparedness is important for all residents, no matter where they live in the county.

Walla Walla County is recognized as a fire-adapted community, and our goal is to make sure everyone is informed, equipped, and ready. Let's work together to make the entire county more fire-prepared and resilient across all landscapes.
